This qualification is for students who have an interest in working in the Health and Social Care sector. This course is ideal for those who wish to develop their knowledge and understanding of skills that can be applied to real life contexts and situations.

Areas of Study

Principles of care in health and social care settings

In this unit you will learn about the key topics that are important when caring for and protecting people in health and social care.

Supporting individuals through life events

In this unit you will learn about growth and development through the life stages. You will also learn how to evaluate the needs of individuals who have been affected by life events as well as how to recommend support to meet their needs.

Health promotion campaigns

In this unit you will research health promotion campaigns and learn about their benefit to society. You will also plan and deliver your own health care promotion campaign.

Assessment

60% Non-Examined Assessment:

This will be made up of several internally assessed projects.

40% Examination:

This will cover all aspects of the course.

The exam board for this course is Cambridge National. 

Career Opportunities and progression routes

Health and Social Care is a broad career sector. There are many different career paths available for students from all different kinds of academic background. For example, nursing, police services, midwifery, social work, probation service and mental health and counselling.
