Well done Year 11

24th Aug 2023

Despite the national picture indicating that GCSE results look set to be similar to pre-pandemic levels, The Hurst School is delighted to report that English and Maths grades are higher than 2019.

Students have gained a higher percentage in English and Maths grades at 4+ (standard pass), 5+ (strong pass) and 7+ levels. Indeed our 5+ strong pass English and Maths results are 5% higher than 2019.

Compared to last year’s results, the school has improved its passes in English and Maths at every level by 2%, and 12.5% of our year 11 cohort achieved the higher grades of 7 and above in English and Maths.

Top performers include Callum Barbour with 5 Grade 9s and Brooke Ward and Ben Treble with 4 Grade 9s.

Headteacher, Jayne McLaren said: “I am delighted with student progress this year, and how students have got better grades in English and Maths, despite the national picture rolling back the grade boundaries this year. I would like to congratulate all our students who worked incredibly hard this year and wish them well for the future. I would also like to thank our teaching staff for all their efforts.”
