The hurst 134

Through history, we can learn how past societies, systems, ideologies, governments, cultures and technologies were built, how they operated, and how they have changed. The rich history of the world helps us to paint a detailed picture of where we stand today.

The History Department is dedicated to providing all students with a wide variety of topics that will help them build a coherent understanding of how Britain has been shaped by its past.  We want students to gain a broad perspective over a range of issues, both British and international, so that they feel empowered with knowledge and understanding of the way the world works. We value History for the transferable skills of explanation, evaluation and assessment that it allows our students to develop and realise that these will be important tools for our students’ lives beyond the classroom.  Our aim is to develop the skills of enquiry and analysis; building students’ ability to create and support persuasive arguments.
