Congratulations to our year 11s on their GCSE results

We have had a fantastic morning welcoming back our year 11 students and celebrating with them as they collected their long-awaited GCSE results.
Among the many successes, several students achieved exceptional outcomes:
- Charlie W (Former Head Boy) – 8 Grade 9s
- Hallam M – 7 Grade 9s
- Anabelle M – 7 Grade 8s
- Annie-Rose T – 2 Grade 9s
- Tristan T – 1 Grade 9 and 9 Grade 8s
This year’s Combined Science results for Hurst School students achieving 4+ Grades was 69.5%, higher than the national average of 57.6%. Grades 4+ results for the separate Sciences, saw Hurst School students achieve an average of 96.6 % across Biology, Chemistry and Physics, well above the national average of 91.2%.
In Maths, 77.2% of Hurst School students received a Grade 4 or above, 5.3 % higher than the national average of 71.9%.
Headteacher Jayne McLaren praised the achievements of the year group, saying:
“We are incredibly proud of our students. Despite the challenges of Covid, which significantly impacted this year group, their hard work and determination have led to good results. I would also like to thank my staff for their dedication in preparing students for these exams.”
The school extends its congratulations to all year 11 students and wishes them a joyful day of celebration and every success in their next steps.
