Several of our year 10 students recently had the incredible opportunity to spend a day at RAF Odiham, gaining a real insight into life on an active military base.

During their visit, students explored the living quarters, toured the sports and recreation facilities, and enjoyed lunch in the Junior Officers’ Mess. They also:

  • Attended an informative talk and watched a film about RAF career opportunities, including roles and salaries.
  • Visited the 7th Squadron hangar, where they toured operational aircraft, including Chinook helicopters, and even sat in a cockpit.
  • Witnessed the King’s Flight helicopter taking off to collect a member of the Royal Family.
  • Observed Chinooks in flight.

Throughout the day, students engaged with RAF personnel, asking questions and learning from Pilots, Weapons Specialists, an Environmental Officer, a Physical Training Instructor, and an Aviation Engineer.
