Congratulation to athletics team for third placed finish at District Athletics event
Back to News
Last Thursday, the PE department took 33 year 7 and 8 students to Down Grange Athletics Track in Basingstoke to compete in the annual District Athletics competition.
Unfortunately, due to poor weather conditions, the year 9/10 event was cancelled, and want to thank all those students who had prepared to attend for their commitment and effort. We were sad that you weren’t able to be there. We are however looking forward to you showcasing your talents at our Sports Day on 10th July.
Despite the forecast of rain throughout the day, students remained excited and were determined to perform at their best—and they certainly did. Those selected for the event had demonstrated outstanding ability in PE lessons and after-school clubs to earn their place in the team. The competition included a range of track and field events, such as running, throwing and jumping, with the high jump rescheduled for safety reasons.
Throughout the day, our students represented the school exceptionally well, showing determination, resilience and skill in challenging conditions.
Overall, The Hurst School achieved an excellent 3rd place finish, with our year 7 and 8 boys placing 1st—a fantastic accomplishment and our highest finish in many years. Students who achieved 1st and 2nd place in their events will now go on to represent The Hurst School at county level in Winchester on 7th July.
We wish them the very best of luck and are confident they will continue to perform brilliantly. Well done to the following students for their successes:
