On Friday afternoon  85 Year 8 pupils and 10 staff headed to East Sussex for a weekend of activities at PGL.

The aims of the weekend were for pupils to build their resilience and self esteem, to develop their teamwork skills, and of course to have fun and make memories.

The staff that accompanied these pupils were immensely proud of them. Pupils were superb at supporting each other on challenges such as the climbing wall and Jacobs Ladder, and they tried their very best at all activities, no matter what was asked of them.

Miss Conran, Head of Year 8, said, "Pupils were polite, enthusiastic and a pleasure to be with. It wasn't just The Hurst staff that felt this way. Two instructors who have worked at Windmill Hill all summer reported that they had had "the best session they had ever had" with our pupils. They really were a credit to the school, their families, and themselves. Unfortunately we lost out on doing some of the activities we had asked for due to staffing issues at the centre, but our pupils threw themselves into everything regardless.

The highlight for Miss Conran was making it up Jacobs ladder with the help of Lucas and Eben - "thank you boys - I couldn't have done it without you!"
